This Sunday our Top 4 become three but not before tugging at our heartstrings with some intimate duets then schooling the Wooden Mic contenders on how to deliver a killer vocal. Lastly, they’ll be taking on some of SA’s greatest hits. That latter theme ties in perfectly with the roots of our guest performers who hail from a small town now famous for churning out some of SAs most gifted artists, Ladysmith in Kwazulu Natal
One listen to any of their best-known songs and there’s also no denying how the rich cultural influences of their hometown are woven into their craft to create a signature sound. After all, these gents have been making music (inspired by the sights and sounds around them) from the tender age of 8.
While they’re now making serious headway in the Afro Pop space, Ndu and Danya were actually drawn to work with one another because of a mutual love for Hip Hop and even took part in stage battles and poetry recitals back in high school. A profound respect for one another’s gifts spawned from this and they elected to work together to realise their dreams. They’ve since flaunted their Hip Hop credentials on their FIRE collab with Mkiri!
They’d soon relocate to Jozi before signing to their label, Ambitiouz Entertaiment after the commercial and critical success that was ‘Sthandwa’. It’s certainly the hit that blazed the trail but their most recent release, ‘Ibhanoyi’ has taken their careers to new heights. This wholesome and infectious love jam quickly became a stapple on SA radio and has since clocked over 4 million vews on YouTube thanks, in part, to a picturesque music video inspired by the brutal, daily grind in SA’s economic capital!
While we’re holding thumbs for them to show this particular smash some love, we already know that anything they grace the stage with is going to add some sparkle to an evening that already promises to be unforgettable and emotional. Make sure you’re watching Mzansi Magic come 5pm this Sunday.
