CHINA: Belt and Road Initiative (IMPA-BRI) programme 2022/23: What Is CHINA: Belt and Road Initiative (IMPA-BRI) programme 2022/23? The International Master of Public Administration in the Belt and Road Initiative (IMPA-BRI) program at Tsinghua University’s School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) is now accepting applicants. SPPM at Tsinghua University offers the IMPA-BRI program, which is a one-year English-taught Master’s Degree program. The IMPA-BRI initiative aims to broaden the area of collaboration and exchange among BRI countries, as well as to develop promising talent for BRI countries.

The program’s goal is to help participants obtain a better grasp of China’s development experiences and the BRI, as well as to improve their analytical acumen for public policy and leadership abilities. Because of the epidemic, students from outside China must be able to undertake and complete the study online.

Eligibility Status:

  • Applicants must be citizens of countries that are part of the Belt and Road Initiative (South Africa is one of them);
  • In China, you must have a Bachelor’s degree or a degree that is equal to a Bachelor’s degree;
  • Senior government officials, senior business executives, or administrative heads and senior management staff from universities, colleges, and academic institutions;
  • You must be under 45 years old;
  • At least five years of appropriate full-time job experience is required;
  • Have a good command of the English language;
  • Be in the physical and mental state to conduct and complete the research online;
  • Students must be able to finish their studies in China if Tsinghua University requires them at a later time.

Application process

At the time of application, all scholarship applicants must have paid the application fee (800RMB).

Included in the application are the following documents:

  • All documents must be legible and in PDF format (no photographs of documents will be accepted).
  • A copy of your passport that has been certified;
  • Copies of your bachelor’s degree certificate as well as your academic transcript;
  • Personal statement (at least two A4 pages in English): Your educational and employment experience, motivation for applying to Tsinghua University’s IMPA-BRI program, relevant abilities and successes, and study objectives and career ambitions must all be included in the statement.
  • Two letters of recommendation from the employer and two letters of recommendation from academic professors;
  • Certificates of English competence;
  • Medical certificate: within one month, a health assessment form demonstrating that the applicant is free of infectious diseases and other diseases that the Chinese border agency prohibits.
