Rhodes University General Scholarship: What Is Rhodes University General Scholarship? Rhodes University offers a general scholarship/bursary to RU students. Scholarships and bursaries are given out based on merit and financial necessity. To apply for the scholarship, students must submit a motivation letter. Application Process For Rhodes University General Scholarship

List of Rhodes University Scholarships

1st year BMus Bursary
Awarded to a student in the first year of their BMus studies. This bursary is worth approximately R20, 000.00.

The Rhodes University Charles Bryars Scholarship

All instruments are considered eligible while studying for one of the following degrees: BMus, BA, or BSc. Normally intended for people wishing to study organ as a major instrument, all instruments are considered eligible while studying for one of the following degrees: BMus, BA, or BSc. This bursary is valued at around R40,000.00.

Bursary named for Robert B Lloyd
Awarded to a promising male student in the BMus degree program on the advice of the Head of Department of Music. If there are no qualifying students in this category, a student pursuing a Master’s degree or higher in music will be considered. This bursary is valued at approximately R10.000.00.

Pullen, Raymond
This award is given on the advice of the Head of Department and is administered by the Research Office. This only applies to postgraduate students (MMus and PhD). The sum of money for this bursary is around R60, 000.00 Applicant wishing to be considered, must submit evidence of other funding received. It is awarded for up to MMus2 and PhD3.

Rupert Onderwysstigting Prize
Awarded on the recommendation of the Head of Department, this bursary is worth approximately R1,500.00.

Betty Shuttleworth Bursary
Outstanding Piano Performance for advanced students. Award is made on the recommendation of the HoD. This award is worth approximately R500.
