The Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship: What Exactly Is The Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship About? The Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship is open to applicants from the 48 countries of Sub-Saharan Africa who have been accepted into one of the Bartlett Promise’s nine schools and require financial assistance. The Faculty of the Built Environment at University College London (UCL) is giving four (4) scholarships to students from Sub-Saharan Africa starting in September 2022. The Bartlett Promise aims to provide a path to postgraduate studies at The Bartlett for students from underrepresented backgrounds in UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment.

Eligibility Status:

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • satisfy the academic criteria of The Bartlett;
  • be citizens of a Sub-Saharan African country, including South Africa, and inhabitants of an SSA country that qualifies;
  • must not be a British citizen or a dual British citizen;
  • have an unconditional or conditional offer of admission to a Bartlett master’s program for study in 2022/23; – have an unconditional or conditional offer of admission to a Bartlett master’s program for study in 2022/23; – have an unconditional or conditional offer of admission to a Bartlett master’s program for
  • have a household income of less than £42,875 and be in financial need (approximately R922 000).

Scholarship Packages

  • Full tuition fees for international students;
  • A stipend to cover living and study costs (£15,364 equivalent to R330 000);
  • A return flight to/from the United Kingdom;
  • The cost of obtaining a UK study visa (including, if necessary, a travel allowance);
  • The cost of an English language assessment;
  • The cost of a health test required for the visa;
  • Master’s application fees and the NHS health supplement payment in the United Kingdom;
  • Ongoing academic and professional assistance throughout the program.

The procedure for submitting an application

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • have received an offer to study a master’s degree in 2022/23 from one of The Bartlett schools by April 18, 2022;
  • Apply as soon as possible, but no later than February 14 for The Bartlett School of Architecture applications and February 28 for all other Bartlett schools;
  • Look for a program by school, browse the available programs, or use the programme finder to discover one.
  • When you’ve found a program that interests you, submit your application by clicking the Apply Now button on the program page.
  • Please fill out the fee waiver form to apply for a waiver of the application cost.
